Happy Thanksgiving!!

Wow, has it already been two weeks? No wonder I never had one of these before, I'm terrible at writing! Well, we just had Thanksgiving and it was awesome as usual. We had pie night at mom and dad's house afterward and it was amazing. We had 11 pies and 12 people. The best were the pumpkin with the egg nog inside and my very own apple pie. I was kind of proud of it. So I just took a final today, two weeks before finals week. Stupid labs, they never keep the normal schedule, I have a term paper due in my physics lab on Wednesday. A term paper!! In a phys lab!!! Whose idea was that?? Well it's a bad one. At least Christmas is coming. Christmas is the best. Everyone's happier and nicer, you can listen to carols and not get looked at like you're crazy and there's a kind of magic in the air; Christmas is just the best. I'm looking forward to when finals are all over and I can sit back and relax and go visit my sister in Denver. I have a new niece! She's 4 months old and I haven't seen her since she was 2 weeks. I'm excited. Well, I gotta go get a start on my paper for my physics class. So, I'll say something I learned from Renee: Hyvä yötä! That's Finnish for good night!

So close, but you know it's cool

So last Saturday I totally didn't mean to leave you all hanging on the outcome of the bee. There were a few a new kids there, and and one of them was unstoppable. He totally took first, and he was a pretty cool guy, too. I ended up in third, which is better than fourth and my first time in the top three, so it worked out. The big news is that there was this girl there named Renee and she is amazing! We've been hanging out a lot since Saturday, hence no blogging. Between my Chem test, my Physics test and preparing for my Engineering test, and then spending time with Renee, I totally have been swamped this week.

So I need to tell you about Renee, she's kind of short, she has dark blond hair and she's a Linguistics major. She's into hiking, she's hilarious and she speaks Finnish, of the random languages. I really like her. We went to Jamba Juice on Monday and on Wednesday got ice cream at this place called SubZero where they make the ice cream right in front of you with liquid nitrogen. It's really cool, and it's good ice cream, too. But we just talked for hours and then walked around the city. I'm really feeling connected to her, which is weird because I only met her last Saturday, but hey, you never know what's going to happen when you meet someone. So that's what's new for me.

And now I have to get going to Chem class, we're discussing the possibilities of harvesting the dust on the surface of the moon for Helium-3 as a renewable power source (renewed by solar winds). China has announced that they're trying for that and India has a newly funded space program, but they won't admit that they want the He3. Although the US probably won't go for it because we have so much coal, even though it burns dirty. I don't see why we don't just go nuclear, there are ways of recycling the waste and making it reusable and with the technology we have people in nuclear power plants are exposed to about as much radiation as people who have granite counter tops. Yes, granite is slightly radioactive- sorry to burst any bubbles. But the thing is that there is so much more ambient radiation in the air around us that things like microwaves and cell phones and granite and what have you really only adds a very small amount to the total amount of radiation that we come in contact with on a daily basis. Americans are just paranoid about radiation. Oh, well; maybe someday we'll get over it. But for now I need to do some reading before class. See ya!

Ok, one down, two to go

Alright, so I got my paper turned in for my electronics class but now I have mid terms in physics and chemistry. On the up side I'm finally using some easy formulas, like E=mc^2. So much simpler than Nernst or Gibbs. So I guess I should talk about exciting things, apparently I already have a follower of my blog. That was fast. I should be sure to check out her blog too. So tomorrow I have a competition to go to- it's an integration bee! The last time I went to one of those I took 4th because I got nervous and mixed up diff eq's and taylor polynomials in the last round. I know, they have nothing in common, and I fixed it, but it cost me some time and I got beat. So tomorrow, I will not get mixed up and I will win it outright!! Here's hoping, anyway. So I wrote a new game for my calculator, it's another racing game and it's awesome. Almost as awesome as the time that we put the Mendelbrot equation into my friend Eric's TI-86 and overloaded it! That was so awesome!! We had to take the batteries out to get it to work again. Oh, man- good times. Now if that wasn't exciting I don't know what is. Ok, I gotta go work out some stuff with my good old friend Bernoulli. See ya!

Going crazy with midterms

So I don't really have time to write a real entry right now, I have to study for my midterm on nuclear chemistry (go Einstein!!), but I'll write soon.
